CEO says Sberbank in talks on financing O’Key, plans no purchase

MOSCOW, Apr 16 (PRIME) -- Russian top bank Sberbank does not plan to acquire grocery retailer O’Key Group, but is holding talks on possible financing, Sberbank CEO German Gref told reporters on Tuesday.

“I have learned it from the mass media. We are not acquiring the company, as far as I know, but are in talks to finance it. I do not know the details and cannot comment. We are considering the deal as a financing bank, and do not plan to buy the firm,” he said.

Earlier in April, Reuters reported citing sources that Sberbank was holding talks to buy O’Key Group to resell it on to another investor.
